NUMÉRO RUSSIA #55: Adriana Lima (1)

Adriana Lima has had a long career modeling. In the "Superwoman" editorial for Numero Russia (#55) issued in the fall season of 2019, the Brazilian goddess showcases her mature ability to be lensed tastefully while also relating a message about female empowerment. The world is going through a tremendous social change right now. Gender roles are being re-evaluated and equality is being demanded by women who have been shut out of many opportunities due to the prevailing gender bias that has been seen in every country and in every culture throughout the world. Women are often treated as if they are intellectually inferior and find it difficult to land the more distinctive decision-making roles that they so often seek when qualified. Women have been subjectified and limited to roles that only applaud their beauty instead of roles that commend their intellect.

Having both beauty and intellect can cause much grief for a supermodel wanting to play a role that embraces also her intangible traits. In this strong and sexy feature, Adriana Lima is photographed by George Livieratos while currently being represented by Elite Modeling Agency of Paris. She is draped in designs by Balenciaga, Roberto Cavalli and Fendi wearing a nice assortment of bold and upscale statement jewelry pieces.

NUMÉRO RUSSIA #55: Adriana Lima (2)

Adriana Lima loves the sport of boxing for women and has been featured quite often in various editorials throughout the years as such an athlete. She has advertised with the Victoria's Secret sports line of clothing using the boxing theme. In real life, she trains by incorporating boxing into her workout routine. It seems that to her, the physical strength of a woman if developed can be used forcefully for adequate self-protection. Well, at least that is how this particular editorial with Numero Russia in combination with the accompanying video editorial of the photoshoot comes across to me as a viewer of such admirable female strength. The detailing of the chains symbolizes a new era of women breaking free from male dominance and oppression. The white leather jacket that she wears by Fendi stands out to me as a spectacular wardrobe addition with the lattice cutout detailing.

GQ (South Africa) JAN 2018: Jasmine Tookes

Jasmine Tookes (Agency: IMG Models) is the cover model for GQ South Africa's January 2018 issue! Lovely cover with brilliant accompanying editorials. Cleverly lensed by photographer Bryce Thompson and fashionably styled by Nick Nelson in lace, leather and sheer mesh.

Her career exploded after she was granted the title of Victoria's Secret Angel and adorned on the 2016 runway with the "Bright Night" Fantasy Bra. She has graced the covers of Vogue, Elle, Maxim and many other magazines. She has walked the runway of many prestigous design houses. I especially loved seeing her walk the 2016 Spring/Summer Tommy Hilfiger Runway. She has landed many advertising campaigns including Lancome Cosmetics.

Angel Jasmine Tookes is an American beauty with a lovely, fresh look combined with an alluring sultry aura. Right now, her career is sizzling hot. Can't wait to see how her modeling ventures will continue to blossom into the new year!

Harper's Bazaar (GER) NOV 2016: Joan Smalls

Joan Smalls is featured in a fabulous editorial for Harper's Bazaar Germany, Shades of Beige. For it's November 2016 issue, she is featured on the cover photographed by Marcus Ohlsson and styled by Kerstin Schneider. She has a relaxed, comfortable look. Her beautiful, smooth skin and slim physique is showcased nicely. The shoot is clean and uncluttered as well as the clothing that she wears. Sometimes simple just looks so regal and classy.

As an added bonus, another Victoria's Secret model, Gigi Hadid, is also featured inside in an article discussing her dynamic relationship with Tommy Hillfiger as his model of choice. This hot topic article first appeared in the USA issue of Harper's Bazaar from October 2016 and is truly deserving of reprint for the Germany publication. The fresh relationship developed between Tommy Hillfiger the brand, Tommy Hilfiger the designer, and Gigi Hadid the model turned co-designer is simply fascinating.

Legendary Victoria's Secret model Gisele Bundchen is also featured in an editorial. This magazine's November 2016 issue just oozes with appeal and cleverness. Yes, three Victoria's Secret models in separate non-related editorials. Hmmm.

As a blogger, it is truly time for me to start paying more attention to Harper's Bazaar. I have written about editorials from the magazine before (featuring Chanel Iman and Alessandra Ambrosio). However, this particular cover featuring Joan Smalls just has left a lasting impression upon me. There is just something so right about it ... a representation that I suppose I just do not see often enough.

Smart. Clean. Elegant. Classy.
